Door Refinishing in Mount Holly, NC

Door refinishing

We got a call from a local church in Mount Holly, NC needing the front double doors refinished. This process included removing the old varnish, stain, and some of the top layer of the existing wood, as the doors were very old. We began by cleaning the surface with a gentle all-purpose cleaner. This is to make sure that when we begin sanding, we aren't ingraining any dirt or oils into the surface of the wood. After cleaning the surface, we sanded the doors and frame down beginning with course paper and moving down grit to make sure that when we apply the stain, it will soak in and look smooth. After sanding the surfaces, we were ready to apply the stain. In this case, the customer wanted a plain, non-shiny finish. We used Cabot, Semi Transparent Stain and used one coat to seal in the surface of the wood. After drying, we cleaned up the area and touch up any areas that needed adjusting. The customer was pleased with our work.
